Massage it is! (Workplace Drama)

Inner Me: I wish I was a cat.

Outer Me: Argh. I feel so stressed. I want to lie down and just not do anything.

Friend 1: Take a break. Relax for a while. Talk to someone for a few seconds and then get back to work

Inner Me: A break? Take a break and then go talk to someone so that I can feel even more stressed. No, no, no, not going to work. Seriously, now I feel more stressed listening to your idea.

Outer Me: No, I don’t think that is what I want.

Friend 2: Hey, come on let’s go have some tea?

Inner Me: Tea? You mean a cup of tea? What is wrong with everybody here? How do you think, a cup of tea will be enough? Did you not hear what I said? I said I feel so stressed.

Outer Me: No, I don’t think that is what I want.

Friend 3: Ok. I think it’s time to give you a good massage then.

Inner Me: Oh yes, that is exactly what I want. I want to sit, have a good massage, and want to get rid of the stress and tension from my mind and muscles.

Outer Me: Massage? Massage? Did somebody say massage? Yeah ok, I am ready but only since you insist! So where and when are we going to get a good massage?

Friend 3: You are going to get a good massage, here and now!

Inner Me and Outer Me: What? No. No. No, don’t you dare come try to touch me and give me a massage. I don’t want it from you.

Friend 1: (confused)

Friend 2: (confused)

Friend 3: (looked confused and grabs a small white little appliance from his desk)

Me: (confused)

A good massage is “manipulation of tissues (as by rubbing, kneading, or tapping) with the hand or an instrument for relaxation or therapeutic purposes” (Courtesy: Merriam Webster Dictionary) and a good massage to me is manipulation of tissues (as by rubbing, kneading, or tapping) with the hand for relaxation or therapeutic purposes (i.e. rubbing, kneading or tapping with instrument excluded).

I had preconceived notions about massagers:

  • Massagers are not as effective as hand massages
  • Massagers are not very cost effective
  • The quality of massagers are not very promising

But apparently I was wrong for massagers are one of the trending appliances in the health and personal care product category (I checked about it online the second I saw my friend grab a small white appliance from his desk). Well there are reasons as to why massagers are trending appliances for without any you won’t have people purchasing them or using them.

    Special Note from the writer:

    • Sometimes, I do wish I was a cat.
    • I am not outdated as I sound. I had to change facts and scenes for content’s sake.
    • Normally a cup of tea is all that I need to get relived from stress.
    • I chose to mention only three popular types of massages as they are the ones that are apt for our company’s products.
    • I took time to write this special note just so you get know how honest and truthful I am. (I am not here to brag about my good qualities though. Just saying!)
